Corporate Presentations (Fall 2008)
Conducting a presentation on campus is an effective strategy for meeting with students and educating them about career opportunities within your organization. Presentations begin in September prior to the start of fall interviews. We recommend that you deliver your presentation two to three weeks prior to your interview to heighten student awareness of and interest in your firm’s opportunities. Sessions typically begin with a brief presentation by representatives of the company and are followed by a brief Q&A period. Please contact your Relationship Manager for more information regarding scheduling a corporate presentation.
Industry Focused Networking Nights (Fall 2008)
In lieu of a corporate presentation, the CDO is pleased to offer Industry Focused Networking Nights in the areas of healthcare, insurance/diversified financials and nonprofit management. These programs will showcase these specific industries and will begin with a discussion about opportunities in the industry, followed by a networking reception. The Industry Focused Networking Nights will be held during the fall recruiting season. Please contact your Relationship Manager if you are interested in participating.
Career Immersion (Friday, September 19, 2008)
This is a full day of educational panels featuring SOM alumni from various industries and functional areas. Please contact your Relationship Manager if you have an alumnus at your firm interested in participating.
Meet the Firms (Friday, October 10, 2008)
This signature career fair is held annually and is a wonderful way to connect with our first and second-year students prior to the start of full-time interviewing.
Read more about Meet the Firms in an overview of the 2008 event.
Campus Interviews (Full-time and Internship)
We offer two types of interview schedules: closed and open schedules. Recruiters who opt for a closed schedule invite selected students to interview. Recruiters identify students by reviewing résumés submitted by students, reviewing the résumé book for possible candidates, or meeting students at on-campus events. By contrast, open schedules allow students to bid for opportunities to interview with companies of their choice. We encourage all employers to use a combination of these interview schedule types for their visit to Yale SOM. Learn more about on-campus interviews, or contact your Relationship Manager.
Host a company trek — invite students for an onsite visit of your organization. Popular times for these treks are on Fridays during the academic year, when classes are not in session, or during spring recess in March.
Network with selected students in a formal or informal setting away from campus. Suggested events include inviting students to dinner or cocktails at a restaurant in New Haven or New York, or bringing them to your corporate dining room for an intimate gathering.
Yale SOM has an impressive number of student clubs, which provide you with access to students who have targeted your industry for career exploration. Many clubs sponsor resume and cover letter writing sessions, interview preparation programs, career discussions with experts in the industry, and visits to organizations. Please contact your Relationship Manager who will be able to facilitate an introduction to the student clubs and suggest strategic partnerships.
Hold office hours or coffee chats on campus and meet one-on-one with students or in small groups. This format allows students to conduct informational interviews to learn more about your company.
Recruiters’ Day (Friday, May 1, 2009)
Join the CDO and student representatives from the first and second year class for this wonderful opportunity to learn about new developments at SOM. Topics discussed include building your brand on campus, implementing innovative recruiting strategies, and partnering with Yale SOM student clubs.
West Coast Forum (January 5 and 6, 2009)
The West Coast Forum will be held the first week of January in San Francisco. This interview program is a complimentary opportunity for West Coast employers to meet students from Yale SOM, and other premier MBA programs, committed to employment on the West Coast. In 2008, approximately 25 employers held more than 250 interviews with first- and second-year students at the Forum. Employers interested in participating in the 2009 Forum should contact the CDO at 203-432-5900 or som.cdo@yale.edu.
London Bound Student Trek (Friday, November 28, 2008)
London Bound is a premier networking event that offers students from Yale SOM, and other premier MBA programs, the opportunity to meet with alumni and recruiters from leading European firms. Hosted in London during the Thanksgiving holiday, the event focuses on building successful and mutually beneficial relationships between students and European employers. Employers interested in participating in the London Bound Student Trek should contact the CDO at 203-432-5900 or som.cdo@yale.edu.
